My life has changed significantly in the last 5 days, and yet one common denominator remains. I'm sure you have guessed it as I have already mentioned it. That is correct, the desk.

One type of desk can bring incredible stress, while the other leaves you drumming your fingers with your chin in the palm of your other hand, with a sudden onset of stress with the busyness of the season. Both not horrible situations, just very different with their own joys & stresses. Each begins with a slight excited expectation of needing something new, and end with excited enthusiasm to switch up routine.

In comparison they sound very much the same. And yet they are still so very very different. The one desk is smaller, fitting a laptop and printer, scattered with graded papers and unfinished assignments, while the other is big and stationary, full of business papers, a laptop, and messages for others. Each have their own purpose. Each are necessary for life to move forward. One brings in a pay cheque to survive, while the other sees many cheques outgoing, but is necessary for the future to survive, or aleast the future full of interest and pathos.

I need prayer to get through both...I love both for a time. Pray that I find the strength to find joy and blessing in both situations.

Times To Remember

Today is one of those days that everyone dreads, and yet, leaves a bitter sweet taste in one's heart. Today I said good-bye to my best friend as she packed up her life, and has moved back home where God is calling her. I have known this day was coming for over a year now, yet it still seems like time was stolen from us. We have lived with each other on and off for 3 years, and have had many adventures, highs, lows, silliness (that my fiance can hardly be in the same room for), and heartache we have shared together.
It was hard to let her go knowing that this truly was the last time that I would get to live with Sarah. As God has taken me to the path of matrimony. I will have a permanent roommate come July and I would not change that for the world, but the consiquences of such decisions still are hard to accept.
It always seemed that no matter how rough life was or where those silly adventures were, Sarah was there with me. I realize that yes, we have only known each other 3 years, but we have become close friends and even sisters in that short time.
My adventures with Sarah have not ended, but I know they will not be as many.
This bitter sweet feeling is due to the good-byes I had to say today, know that I would not be in such close quarters for an extended time as we have shared before, but I still have a friend who I can love, and be loved in return that will last a lifetime.

learning to put pictures on!!!!

YAY Handsome Devil EH!

Vacuum Excitement!

Something very exciting has happened in life recently...You may be wondering just what that excitement is! Is it a new car, is it a new puppie, maybe I got a tattoo, is it a new house? All good guesses, but no. A new car would be nice, but mine will last many more kilometers, a new puppie just doesn't interest me, don't worry Grandma it's not a tattoo and definitely not a new house! So what is it? Well, it's a new Vacuum! In fact it's my very own, very first vacuum! I must admit that I got very giddy when I brought home Betty I couldn't wait to put it together and try it out! She is a good vacuum! Made our floor look much better than the whole time I've lived here (our other vacuums just didn't match Betty!) What a wonderful day it was having Betty in the house! Great quality for only $94!!!!!! If I knew how to put photos on here I would let you all see how beautiful of a hover it is!! (Hover (British) = Vacuum (North American)).
I hope one day all of you can have a gem like Betty! ;)

Planning Holy Matrimony

Weddings! Fun: yes! Easy to plan----NO. Actually, I am really excited about getting married. My husband-to-be is such a sweetheart that loves me for me and fits me and my personality almost to a T! We definitely have our moments of stubborn frustration, but we work through them and communicate like never have I had in a relationship before! He is a blessing foresure!
We've only been engaged for almost two weeks, (which I still can't wrap my head around sometimes!) but already we have been getting things rolling. I even went dress shopping two days ago, that was odd. I still feel 16 most of the time, and all of the sudden I"m a trying on beautiful and some ugly dresses! It seems odd and exciting all at once! We are having a hard time thinking of where the wedding will be! The one place we both really would love to have it just is not feasible, mainly because if the weather isn't anything but perfect it will be very miserable for the guests. However, we are both in the mindset that the place does not make the wedding, we do! As long as he is there and my family and friends, I will be happy and have an amazing time!
So with only 7.5 months to go (Seems so far away) we have a lot to do! But I'm looking forward to making that day our's!

Here We Go

So I am exactly 24 minutes before I head for my first exam of three today. I see the future and it seems so far away, all I can think about it my next week, my next week of stress, little sleep and unassurance of my success. All I want to do is be done with school and doing what my heart yearns for, to be working in youth ministry molding the minds of our future generation. Yet I cannot get there without the tools and knowledge in how to do that effectively. It seems like a cycle that there is no way out of. I was sitting in my last class praying that God would somehow show me the fast track and yet still receive the knowledge I would get through a degree. I'm not sure how I will make it through this. Maybe it's because I'm overwhelmed, maybe it's me being lazy and not wanting to do the work, maybe it's me not always seeing the complete importance of this time, but all I know is that God is silent...meaning, He has me here to finish. I want to cry. I want to sit down and forget that exams start next week. I just want to be done. Only 5ish more semesters. ONLY. It still seems like a long time.

Papers & Snow

Tis the season to be jolly...or so one would think. That's the difference right now. I can't think of jolly holidays until I have finished thinking of school! But good news...it's coming to the end of the semester. Only 1 more week until the end of classes, which means I will have finished my many many papers, and have started studying for my finals. The temporary end is in sight and I am looking forward to the time of festivities with loved ones and long lost friends. If I would have a point to this entry it is to wish you all God's blessings in this season. Cherish it, enjoy it, and remember what it is for.

P.S. If you find yourself on your knees, remember me in your prayers. The end is near but I still have 2 papers and 3 finals. Pray that I keep my focus and motivation, short-term and long-term!

Hurt

Why does the chance to find love have to be so risky? Out of everything that a humanbeing desires, and I know most everyone has this desire, why does love have to be the one thing that is the most sought after, even if it isn't a romantic kind, and yet it is the most unpredictiable journey? I have come to the conclusion that people are willing to hurt over and over to find it, because once you do receive that feeling, action, and commitment from someone, it is the most amazing adventure.
However, I have a friend who recently was let go by someone they finally let love them and love in return. It was going so well. Shocked was everyone when they heard. The other had their reasons for letting loose an amazing person, and these reasons over everything are probably one the genuine reason for breaking up. There was no big falling out or any bad reasons to encourage a break-up. It was simply the opportunity for both parties to find God's calling for their lives without the distraction of a relationship. Sometimes this is used as a cop out, however, I don't think that this is the case this time. Unfortunately, my friend is hurting deeper than they had ever known hurt before. Understanding is hard to find in this time, and yet they are willing to move forward to wait on God's time, whether that means he figures it out and returns, or they figure it out and move on. I would not wish hurt upon anyone, not this heart tearing pain. Yet, out of everything I know that God is faithful, and has something planned for each. We may not understand at the time why things have to happen this way. But a few years down the road, God will give a you a picture of your life. It will all fit perfectly, and in His hands.

Once Upon A Summer!

I'm sure this is the same for all of you, but just so it is said, I LOVE SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are only 9 days until the first wonderful day of summer is here! I'm not sure what exactly is the reason for my excitement, but it could be because of the hot weather or the sun kissed skin, or maybe it's the outside activities, such as wake boarding and camp fires. It could possibly the camping trips with family and friends or the outside meals that are cook over the open flame of the well used BBQ. Either way, I love summer and cannot wait till it is here. Well, I was just getting excited about my favorite season, so I thought I would share! My last 2 finals are today, and as much as I can't wait to be done for 4 full months, I also realize that come the end of these finals, my life once again changes. I'm not scared of this change, I've been there before, but I am not completely ready for what lies ahead. Mostly because I will go from overwhelming brain work to overwhelming routine for a good month. The work in itself is good, I get to spend many many hours with my family and interact with them again like I haven't been able to for a long time. But I will miss my Chico and my friends that I have come to appreciate so much while living so far from home. God definitely has been wonderful too me and how he has laid out my life.
WOW, I still cannot believe that a whole year has gone by so quickly. It feels like just yesterday that I walked into the University scared and not knowing which way I was supposed to go, now I'm finishing my last two exams and plan on doing many more years of this exact thing. I am no longer scared of school, maybe a little scared of the future, but I trust God in His insight and what He has in store for me and all that is my future.
Well, the time has gone, and now the clock says I must pick up my keys and walk over to my vehicle, drive towards my classrooms and do my very best that I can on my finals. If any one is reading this, I would love your prayers for me on these 2 exams. Thank you ever so much.

Old Friends Old Memories

So I am sitting here in front of my computer at 1:07 am in the morning. Yes, you are right, it is definitely way too late or early that the case may be, to be trying to write put together thoughts. But I must type my thoughts out as they come. Tonight I went on a blast from the past journey. It all started out with me trying to remember the name of a subject one of my Professors lectured about at the college I attended over 2 years ago (time does go by quickly!). I couldn't remember completely the whole term, so I googled my prof's name to get her email address so I could find out. (google is a wonderful tool by the way, and the term I was looking for was Dark Night of the Soul, if you are ever wanting something to ponder, look it up). While in google mode, I came across my schools website, and a blog of someone who attends their now. I had no clue who that person was, yet they had a name that sounded familiar so I clicked on it! It just so happened to be one of my old classmates and friend. It made me realize how busy life gets and the people who get pushed out of your life when you aren't looking. True, I probably won't keep in contact with that person or maybe not even see them ever again. It is a sad thought, b/c this is not the first time or the first friend this has happened to me. But I realize as time goes by and friends grow in number, if I were to keep in touch with all that influenced my life, I would never have time to live! This brings me to the conclusion, that I do not believe that God has meant for all to be close for eternity, but more brings people into your life for certain periods to help you and you help them to grow in faith and life. God is really our only constant, and maybe family and a possible spouse, but even then sometimes don't last. We need to turn our eyes heavenward, and use him as our guide, and hope beyond hope that you can make a difference while living on this deteriating earth! I hope you have been able to follow my jamble so early on a Friday morning. God bless you!

To Love or not Love...

I think I'm in love!

Meet the Parents

You know what I find kind of entertaining? The nerves that go along with taking someone home to meet the folks. Even though you know that person is awesome, and is possibly the best thing to happen to you in a long time, you always have in the back of your mind the last person you brought home. Now don't get me wrong, you are over them completely, yet the thing that sticks with you is your family's true thoughts about them. And you do not want them to think that about the new person. Granted this person is completely different, and awesome, and you already know your parents will like him. So when it all comes down to it, I'm not really nervous at all. Now he on the other hand, is completely nervous. You just tell him that they will like him and not to worry. My family is amazing and they know me and they know my judgment, they trust me! So with all that said, I will have a great weekend!

!!!!!

Thanksgiving And No Turkey!

Well, as you all know, or maybe not, it's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend! A time full of family fellowship, eating enough to last 5 years, and then complaining b/c your belly hurts! It's great. I love this time of year, minus the cold, but even that is bearable when you have so much to be thankful for. Although I'm sad to say that this Thanksgiving is very different from any other Thanksgiving I have ever had. For starters, it will be the first time without a turkey. Which actually doesn't bother me, b/c I'm not really a huge fan of turkey. But b/c we don't get turkey, that also means we don't get stuffing. That is the best part! I could live off of stuffing! It's all good, I'll live. The other difference this year, is the fact that we aren't getting together with any sides of family. This will be strange. But I still get to be with my immediate family, whom I love with all my being! So even though things are different and change is sometimes hard to adjust to, I still have much to be thankful for, and I'm still getting pumpkin pie! SO LIFE IS ALL PEACHY KEEN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving! Don't forget to tell God that you are thankful!

Smoother Sailing

Ok the last time I wrote I was a little stressed out if you have not figured that out. I'm glad to say that things have calmed down and routine has set in. I've been learning so much through my classes and for the most part find it interesting. Some stuff still seems over my head but I figure thats b/c I've never learned it before, and isn't that why I'm at school, to learn stuff I've never known before! Kind of ironic eh! Well, I must confess that I still don't think that the classroom is my favorite way to learn, but since God seems to want me here, I will be making the most of it. City living is convenient, but I still crave the country. But I'm happy to say that I was able to get out yesterday for half a day of harvesting! IT WAS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love farming. Well, I must be off, homework is calling my name, and I've done a good job at ignoring it so far, but no longer. I must return. And it's dumb. I then spend a lot of my time worrying and wondering what's wrong with me. It all turns inward, which is where my focus shouldn't be , it should be on the plans that God has for me, and how I can further serve Him. This has been the way my last couple of years have gone. I'll be so sure of God's plan for me and I'll start in that direction when all of the sudden my life with take a 180 degree turn. It has definitely kept me on my toes, yet I feel like I can never be content, which scares me to some degree, and makes me feel some what of a failure. I know that it isn't a failure and it's better to actually try things instead of sit on your butt and wait expecting the answer to just pop up one day. Although I'm almost at a point where I don't like telling people of my plans for sure just incase they change again. I never want to be looked upon as some flambouent girl. I want people to take me serious and look at me with intelligence, yet sometimes it feels hopeless and what's the point. If I allowed it to, it could really drag me down. I guess that's why God keeps somethings a mystery. It keeps my trust and faith in Him. Although it doesn't make it any easier, that's for sure. So I guess that's what I'm supposed to do, just keep on keeping on, living one step at a time, and always using Him as my road map. And eventually things will fall into place!

Home Sweet Home!

Home, such a wonderful place! I arrived back this morning at 1 a.m. It was a long time coming, but I'm glad that it is finally here.
But before I get into that, let me tell you about the rest of my trip. (appologize it has been a while, but when we got into France we didn't have internet access!)
We left Glasgow and after spending 2 nights in the airport (which was fun at first and quicly turned boring) we headed to Antibes, France, which is along the Mediteranean Sea. I loved it down there. The weather was really hot and humid, and swimming in the Sea was awesome. We also got dark, but unfortunately we had to suffer through a really bad sun burn. It's funny how the sun can be different from Canada to France. We were there for about 5 days when we headed back to Paris, but fortunately our hotel was in the suburb of Paris and not right in the city. We only spent one day in Paris itself to see the Eiffel Tower (Tour Eiffel) and Notre Dame, but the crowds were so great and many rude people, we decided one day there was enough, but we went to Disneyland one day and it was so much fun. We reverted back to little kids again! So we relaxed a lot and counted the days until we came home. It was also really hard to communicate with people who don't speak your language, but it was adventure and it was good.
The plane ride home was long, but when I saw my family waiting for me I couldn't stop myself, I ran into their arms! I missed them so much, and I'm not sure I could go away from home for that long of a time without seeing them. I realized on my trip just how much my family loves me and how much I love them, and appreciate them. I hope I never take them for granted. Well that was my trip, I hope you enjoyed riding along with me. I'll keep posting blogs up, so I hope that you enjoy this site.
God Bless!
~Kendra~

Sea to Land

It seems to be raining again outside with a little bit of a chill, but I'm blessed to know I have a roof over my head! We are now leaving a little town on the west coast to travel inland and south! I can't believe my time in Scotland is just about over, but both Sarah and I are ready to head to warm France. We've even decided to go and visit the Mediterranean Sea for a couple of days, so we can lay on the beach!!!!!!!!!! I have refused to come home white! No but we are ready for another change. I still can't believe it's only 2 weeks until we will return to the Land of flat ground and green fields. I'm excited to see how things that are familiar back are. Plus I can't wait for the privacy of my own room and the independence of my own vehicle. But I'm not thinking on these things right now. Well, I must be off my train leaves soon. I'll be intouch!

Sea Shores!

We have departed Edinburgh and have headed north. Edinburgh was a very historically beautiful city. And the Hard Rock Cafe had some really good food. (so far it's the best beef I've tasted over here!) We went to The Edinburgh Dungeon which tells of the dark history of Edinburgh. It was disturbing to know the dark mind of humans. I'm just thankful that those things don't go on anymore. We are now in a little town on the west coast. It's a sea side town that borders the harbour. It's so incredibly gorgeous. Actually it reminds me of Vancouver Island a lot. If I ever get the chance to come back to Scotland this is definitely a place I would return too. Well, I must be off. God bless!

School's Out

I am now finished school, and it's sad that I had to say goodbye to my new found family and home. It was really good while it lasted, and I learned so much about myself, and the God who created me. It's sad to think that a place that meant so much to me, I will probably never see again. But I'm so thankful for the opportunity I had to go to Capernwray. It is something that I won't forget. And I encourage anyone who is thinking about it to give Capernwray a try. They won't be disappointed.
Our next journey has begun, and it's a little stressful trying to plan things, but it's also good to see other parts of the earth. We are in Scotland and it's not much different than England, but we are hoping it will be a little different the farther north we go. And we are hoping that the next hostel is a little more, shall we say impressive! but in all we have arrived here safely and are enjoying our good healthy non bread meals! We have smiles on our faces and are ready for bed! It was a neat little town that still had a bunch of the original buildings and cathedrals. It was busy, but me and Sara (friend from Tennessee) got an original tea shop experience. There's a little shop that is famous called Betty's. It was all very proper, and I had a very tasty caesaer salad! (I've been waiting for a good meal for a long time!) We also got to see the Viking wall which are just ruins but very neat. I have tons pictures, so you'll have to suffer through them when I return. Even though York was a good time, my favorite thing about the whole trip were the flat lands and wheat and canola fields I saw. It was so awesome to see something that resembled home for once! It made me want to jump on a plane at the moment and fly home. But alas I still have 4 more weeks before I fly home. Although only one week exactly till school is done. I'm ready to start traveling, but I'm not ready to say good-bye to my new found family and home. But I will thank God for the blessings he had bestowed upon me and look toward what he has in store of me next. well I must go, but I hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Mountain Biking!

Only 2 more weeks of school! AHHHHHHHH! I'm not ready to say good-bye. Although I'm ready to be closer to moving back home. Anyways.
Last weekend was traveling weekend, we got 3 days off to go and do what we wanted. Most of the people headed out, but me and Sarah decided to stick around. At first we were a little bummed out when everyone seemed to be doing something cool, but our weekend ended up being really rewarding. It turned out that having a castle to ourselves and a couple of others worked out well. It was nice to relax and catch up on some much needed sleep. We also to a day to bike to the seashore. It took us a good 1 1/2 hours, but it was so beautiful. I was reminded out awesome our God is, and how much I love the ocean. We were really tired that night, but it was worth it. On Sunday night a bunch of us decided it would be fun to go for a late night walk, b/c the stars were so amazing and we could even see the northern lights. You would think it would be easy enough to just go for a walk right. Wrong! it was after lock-up so we were all supposed to be in our beds. So we escaped to the tower and down the fire escape, then proceeded to run across the lawn! It was so much fun! And muchly needed. Well, It's not a lot of news, yet I thought it would be fun to share my story of intrigue!!!!!!!!

What About Swing?

Ok, if you have never swung danced in your life, now is the perfect time to start! The school is now offering swing dancing classes, and I just so happened to find someone that would dance with me and we went yesterday! It was so much fun! And surprisingly easy. And for those of you that know me as a cluts I'm pleased to say that I'm actually quite graceful on the dance floor! It's a weekly thing, so I'll have to get good then come back and teach you all then we can go out dancing. Ok it's a date then! Other than that nothing exciting has happened, oh wait yes there was something, it's raining again! oh wait that's old news! I must admit I'm missing home a tad bit, and most definitely the Alberta Beef. There beef is alright, but is no where near as good as ours. Well, that's all for now, keep me in your prayers, as I'm a little short on patience sometimes (close quarters with 70 girls and no space to call your can do that to a person) Luv you all! I have a lot of work to do, but I guess it's a life long process eh!
I'm told I have an accent, yet I don't know what they are talking about!!!!!!!
Last night I had the privilage to be in the worship band, and it was so good. Any ways have to go. bye

Wow Time Flies!

It's been a while since I've been able to post, I do appologize. Although I do have a valid excuse. It just so happens that at school we are only allowed 20 minutes two times a week of internet access, and after I have read and responded to my email, my time seems to be up. Although I am here now. I'm in a little city in Northern England at the local liberary. Everything over here is amazingly old and beautiful, although even though the history is very old, everything is very well kept, and built to last. Unlike our wooden homes built in a 2 month period, things over here are still made of brick and stone and take some time to errect.
School is going very well, I've been meeting a lot of new people, from many countries of the world, all different. Although the majority of the students are from North America and about 29 of the North Americans are Canadian. I might be able to keep in contact more than I thought.
We've had lectures everyday 4 times a day and are in the classroom close to 5 hours daily. Although the information is so interesting. Although I'm glad I'm keeping notes b/c there is no way I can remember everything.
God has been teaching me a lot about myself, through the classroom but also just through circumstances and trial and error. I'm hoping to come back with a better attitude. Anyways, this is cheerio for now. Hope you are all doing well!

opps!

We are now out of the big city and are in a smaller city, although it's still bigger than our cities back home. Very cool!

We made it to our destination after many hours of sitting in airports and riding on airplanes. Our flight was delayed 6 ours past the time we were to arrive, but our plane had some malfunctions! I've come to realize I don't like to fly! But so far our trip has been good. We've been in London for 3 days now, and the city is beautiful, yet so compact. I don't think I've seen a foot between houses. Yet everything is either paved, or made of brick and stone. I haven't seen a wood home with plastic siding yet. It's so cultural here and fashion is very much on everyone's minds. Most of the men are always dressed up in suits or very fancy jeans. and yes Man purses are in! And most of the people smell so good.
we have seen the Tower Bridge, (very neat, the architecture in this city is the most beautiful I have ever seen. so much detail and time goes into everything.) We have got to see Big Ben, which is actually the bell, not the clock itself. We kind of saw Buckingham palace. looks like a lot of the other buildings. and we saw the Thames and a lot of other stuff. Anyways, this is over and out for now. Keep me and Sarah in your prayers. We head out of the city tomorrow and start making our way to the school tomorrow morning. God Bless!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://canadiantourist.blogspot.com/2005/04/london-very-cool.html' title='London! It is just also a really good day that you get to spend with family. You sit down to a wonderful meal, and pig out so you can bearly walk afterwards. (plus there is nothing like good old pumpkin pie!) Then you all sit around and chat, laze around, watch a movie, then eat again!
I can't think of a better time with my family!
